Sounds pretty dumb to give a known habituated lying drug smuggler and dealer immunity, in a circumstances where lying serves himself better than justice. However Sutton appears not to be dumb, just a devious manipulator to serve himself and his boss, not justice. I don’t know of anyone who has not made a “dumb” mistake, particularly in the heat of the moment, including law enforcement officers. The drug smuggler was given a free pass to continue his work, which he has done, but no free pass for decent men attempting to do a decent job. Sutton made sure that Aldreti-Devila could continue to sell and smuggle drugs. That’s like giving a child molester immunity because he got shot in the butt while fleeing the scene, so the cop who is trying to protect the kids can be prosecuted. Aldreti-Devila is engaged in one of the most virulent forms of child abuse–as is every drug dealer and smuggler. Who would believe Aldreti-Devila didn’t have a gun–if he didn’t he was a pretty dumb smuggler–his success tells the world that he had his enforcer with him, then made sure his escape was “gun free” after he got shot in the butt.

Second “rule of thumb”, never turn your back on bureaucrats like Johnny Sutton, as they will sell you down the river if it promotes the views of their boss. Compean and Ramos were knifed in the back by Suttton for doing what any good citizen would do when faced with the likes of Aldreti-Davila who murders children with his trade.

Compean and Ramlos should be pardoned.
